All the wrong shooting advice for basketball that really works.

This is exactly what they say NOT to do, and that is why it works. EVERYTHING about the mechanics in this video will sound wrong - even my camera falls (I guess the mechanics of gravity are important). They say, align the seams of the ball. Load the shot back in your wrist Have a routine (from the free throw line) Take your time Get good lift on your jumper Concentrate on your form RICE I say that is all great, but when your practicing, never mind all that. For the most part just get in the reps. Of course you want to generally be balanced and square to the basket, slightly bend your knees get a little lift as needed, etc. But the main thing, is getting lots of shots up. - I mean look at this video, I am not even appropriately dressed - but I still got to the gym - get the shots up. I have sweatpants, untied sneakers, a long sleeve shirt over a short sleeve, a hat on, a heavy watch, and headphones around my neck to start. Fix it later, just get in the gym, and get the shots up. Stop making excuses. You are likely not a professional and not playing in college, or probably didn't - and that means you probably don't have a return machine to get you the ball back and often it is just you alone in the gym with no rebounders. Set up a video, shoot them shots, and watch your natural form and what you have to work with. You will adjust with practice and watching yourself on video. All the tips people give you - are overall in general type things - they don't work for absolutely everyone - every person's mechanics can be a little different based on who you are and what you are working with. Don't overthink it till you start to develop a little shooting confidence and have something to work with. After a while, sure, work on tweaking your mechanics a bit, a touch more arc, getting the ball aligned when you have time, a free throw routine. Maybe before you leave, shoot twenty that way - nice and slow - the most correct way you can. That is putting the training wheels on. But first, just get out there and ride that bike! Get those shots up, time is limited - make sure most of it is actually shooting! I went from about a 1/10 three point shooter when open, to at least an 8/10 if not 10/10 or more - as well as from a decent free throw shooter, to someone who won't miss twice in a row out of 100 or more. #basketball
